SUBJECT: NEW TECHNOLOGIES (TV)
Problem : They spent a lot of time watching television.
Problem: They mustn´t agree to television channels inappropiate for their age.
Solution: To check freetime of the children.
Solution: Depending of the age of the children, their parents should check the television programmes that they are watching.

I agree with her,in the sense that parents have time to look after their children spend watching TV and type of programs or channels they watch.
A possible solution to your problem:
Why not control the television spots that are exposed to the children?
Recently attended a media course at the UNED, there are many issues discussed. One was the time spent before the television children, another problem was the content of the television and finally schedule something very important .. By this I mean that we are a little selfish, we arrived home tired ... pufff plugged the TV and swallow us all. Also happens to children, if will control the time and contended of what they see on TV .. children would be more mentally healthy children, because we unconsciously manipulate television to adults and children.
